COVID-19 Corona Virus Update - Details of CHURCH REOPENING for Public Worship:

A Message from the Rector of St Mary the Virgin, Hayes Revd. Napo John:

Dear Friends

May God’s peace and blessings be with you. I am delighted to inform you that St. Mary’s Hayes Kent Parish Church will open its door for public worship from Sunday the 19th July. We hope to have two services each Sunday: 8 am Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion and 10:30 am Morning Praise or Common Worship Holy Communion Service. Please note 10:30 services will be live streamed.

We will also be open for private prayers each Thursday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.  As we prepare to open, I feel like joining with King David to say Psalm 122:

“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord!’  Our feet are standing
within your gates, O Jerusalem.  Jerusalem—built as a city  that is bound firmly together.  To it the tribes go up,  the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed for Israel,  to give thanks to the fame of the Lord. For there the thrones for judgement were set up, the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:  ‘May they prosper who love you.  Peace be within your walls,  and security within your towers.’ For the sake of my relatives and friends I will say, ‘Peace be within you.’ For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good”

David sang for his Jerusalem in the Middle East I sing and pray for my Jerusalem that is Hayes in Kent. I prayer for the peace and prosperity of my Jerusalem. I look forward to welcoming you to your Parish Church.

Please stay safe and stay blessed.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength . . . Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

We will continue to keep you in our prayers

St Mary the Virgin Church has served the people of Hayes, Kent for over 800 years. The Parish comprises 8,500 residents and the church is at the heart of our community.

We embrace people of all ages and backgrounds who have in some way been challenged and changed by the love of God, made known through the work of his Son, Jesus Christ.

We meet together to celebrate that love in our Sunday worship, learn more about it in groups and find strength to convey it in all our relationships.

Day by day we seek the help of the Holy Spirit to know Christ better and make him known to others.

We warmly welcome all who come through the doors of our lovely church.
